Homegrown in southern California, Dr. Rex graduated from UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology. He pursued his dental career in New York City and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Columbia University. Dr. Rex went on to further his education, completing a General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, a level 1 trauma center in the Bronx.
After 5 incredible years in the city that never sleeps, Dr. Rex returned home to California to serve his community as a general dentist for several years. It was during this that he discovered his true passion for creating smiles in children.
With a new mission in mind, Dr. Rex returned to the Big Apple for a second stint, completing a two-year specialty program at New York University and earning his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. He was awarded "Outstanding Presentation by a Resident in Pediatric Dentistry" for NYU's Annual Research Day, a distinction given to only one resident in the pediatric dental department. Dr Rex even participated in several global outreach programs, going to places such as Nepal and rural Maine, where he provided free dental services to school children facing barriers to oral healthcare.
During his free time, Dr. Rex enjoys the great outdoors (biking, tennis, running, swimming, hiking) and the not-so-great indoors (video games, video games, and kicking butt in more video games).

Dr. James is a San Diego native who grew up with a love of movies and music. While he had early dreams of being an actor, an astronaut, and a musician, he was drawn to the sciences and pursued a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in music at UC Berkeley.
Afterward, he attended UCLA School of Dentistry where he got exposure to all specialties in the profession. Dr. James also went on a dental missions trip to Guatemala in his last year of dental school and helped provide free dental care to villagers who had limited access. He then completed a one-year AEGD residency (advanced education in general dentistry) in DTLA. These years were formative in helping him narrow down his focus to pediatric residency. Having served in children's ministries at church, he discovered a knack for conversation and finding out what the kids were interested in.
Dr. James traveled across the country to Connecticut and attended the pediatric dentistry residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Because they were a major hospital, the clinic saw hundreds of patients a week and doctors performed weekly cases in the OR while patients were under general anesthesia. Dr. James developed his skills and relationships with patients so that they experienced a safe and comfortable environment. After two wonderful years of east coast seasons and amazing New Haven pizza, he returned to the Golden State to apply his experiences and education in helping families learn about oral healthcare.
Dr. James has a deep love for movies, playing and listening to music, and photography. His most unusual hobby is calligraphy, and his favorite way to exercise is rock climbing.
